Base Camp and Beyond

An Inspiring Journey of Resilience, Friendship, and Determination

In January 2018, Liz and her friend Karen (affectionately known as Bomaster) stumbled upon a Facebook post with a simple yet life-changing question: “Ever wanted to see Everest up close?” Liz, intrigued and eager for an adventure, replied, “Would love to do it! How hard can it be?”—little did they know just how challenging, yet rewarding, this journey would become.

For Liz, the trek held deep personal meaning. Just two months earlier, her father had passed away from bowel cancer. Fueled by a desire to honor his memory and support others facing the same illness, Liz committed to raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK. With Karen’s lifelong dream of visiting Everest, their goals aligned perfectly, setting them on the path to Base Camp.

The documentary captures their remarkable journey from initial training to navigating the rugged terrain of Nepal. Along the way, they face physical challenges, altitude sickness, and the emotional weight of their mission. Yet, their determination never falters, and their unwavering friendship provides the strength needed to overcome every obstacle.

Featuring stunning visuals of the Himalayan landscape, heartfelt moments of reflection, and candid glimpses of their highs and lows, Base Camp and Beyond is more than just a travel documentary. It’s a celebration of perseverance, a tribute to loved ones lost, and a testament to the power of hope and connection.
